Multimedia

This month, I’m taking Self-Aggrandizement beyond mere words, and into the brave new world of multimedia. In particular, look shortly for:

– A new episode of the (long-hibernating) F. Scott & Friends Bourbon and Brylcreem Hour, with the inimitable Sarah Brown.

– A narrated slideshow version of my upcoming Paleo fitness talk, “Caveman Lessons on Performing Better, Living Longer, and Looking Good Naked.” (As it’s fairly long, I may be posting it in a couple of installments)

– A series of videos stemming from that talk. First up, one looking at how to sit better (so you can maintain something at least vaguely close to good posture while you’re at your desk or in a car), and another demonstrating three simple hip stretches you can do on your couch to conquer back and knee pain.

Stay tuned.

F. Scott, Redux

On the requests of a slew of readers, from both her site and mine, Sarah Brown and I returned to my living room about a month back to record a second episode of The F. Scott & Friends Bourbon and Brylcreem Hour.

Sadly, it’s not quite as raucously funny as the last one, largely because we kept forgetting what we were talking about, leaving me to slave poorly over Garageband for the last month, cutting random short bits together into something vaguely coherent.

It does pick up after a bit, though we get sort of NPR towards the end as we sober up, at least until we leave the table to get more liquor and then return to give up on podcasting altogether, defaulting instead to singing “Jackson” very, very badly along with June Carter and Johnny Cash.

All in all, it’s good stuff. But the next one should be even better. Sarah and I are hitting the microphones again this weekend, this time with some topics and stories planned in advance, and I guarantee it will be at least as hilarious as both episodes added together and squared.

Until then:

F. Scott

Contrary to what the (lack of) content on this site over the last week and a half might lead you to believe, the release of The Oh in Ohio didn’t actually kill me. In fact, I couldn’t have been more pleased with how it’s turned out – in one fell swoop we’ve elevated Cyan to a serious player in the film distribution world.

But, frankly, I’m sure you don’t give a shit. You want me to, in the emailed words of a long-standing friend, “get back to going on disastrous dates and then writing about it in painful detail.”

So, by way of apology, I go one better: today I’m posting the inaugural episode of The F. Scott & Friends Bourbon and Brylcreem Hour, a new and hopefully semi-regular podcast narrated by the illustrious Sarah Brown and me, in which we discuss such important topics as blue balls, the morning-after pill, and Aaron Burr.

It was recorded Friday evening while both of us were plastered, so I take no responsibility for botching the Kennedy quote, nor for inexplicably using a Cajun accent whenever I say something in French.

But, frankly. it’s pretty damn good. Give it a listen, and feel free to weigh in with suggestions, or ideas for discussion topics for future episodes. Unless the combined appallment of Sarah’s and my mothers prevent us from ever doing something like this again.
